Catholic Church of st. Nicolas
Nestled in the charming Lithostroto district of Argostoli stands the Catholic Church of Saint Nicholas. Despite being ravaged by the earthquakes of 1953, the church rose anew in its present location, albeit on a smaller scale. Its ceremonies, especially during Christmas, Easter, and the Virgin Mary’s feast in September, resonate with profound spiritual significance.
Throughout the summer, the church hosts evening masses on Saturdays and Sundays, catering to the religious needs of its devout congregation.
Noteworthy for its collection of sacred documents, salvaged during the tumult of the earthquakes, the Catholic Church of Argostoli remains intertwined with Corfu administratively. Yet, spiritually, it follows the Orthodox Church calendar, in harmony with Catholic traditions observed nationwide.
