Kabana’s Square & Bell Tower

Kabana’s Square & Bell Tower

Kabana’s Square stands as Argostoli’s historic town center, marking the site where the Venetian Libro d’oro, listing the island’s nobility, was famously burned, symbolizing a new era free from titles and distinctions.

Named after its grand bell tower, which once dictated the town’s rhythm, Kabana Square underwent multiple rebuilds after the 1953 earthquake. It now sits at the same level as the surrounding pedestrian streets, a testament to resilience and adaptation.
