Antisamos Beach

Antisamos is another renowned beach in Kefalonia, with unparalleled beauty. It is situated close to the port of Sami and is 22 kilometers from Argostoli. The route from the port of Sami to the beach hypnotizes the visitor, since it passes through one of the greenest parts of the island, with tall pines and other trees. That’s why many stop to take the necessary photographs at a properly formed flat area. Also, the view of the beach from the Agrilion Monastery is impressive.
It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches of the island; it’s pebbled, but in some spots it also has smaller pebbles or white sand and it’s surrounded by green hills, where the cypress trees almost reach the water. The water is crystal clear and mesmerizes even the most demanding holidaymaker.
It has been characterized as an organized beach the past few years, with a snack bar, sunbeds, umbrellas and water sports. It is always honored with a Blue Flag distinction and cars can easily park in a properly formed space.
Even though it didn’t use to have many visitors, it is now swarmed every summer by numerous tourists of the area and by locals who travel quite a few kilometers in order to visit it.
It became known to most people from the movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”, as it was used for many scenes and unveils the majesty of the Kefalonian landscape.
